Bay Area Latino Lawyers Fund is the 501 (c)(3) charitable arm of the SF La Raza Lawyers Associations. We provide scholarships to law students and educational programs that are directed to the Latinx legal community. SF La Raza Lawyers Associations and our 501 (c)(3) charitable arm, the Bay Area Latino Lawyers Fund, need your help! We represent and provide support to San Francisco's Latinx legal community. We are asking that you become an Organizational Supporter of our association, which will allow us to continue our work.
Why become an Organizational Supporter?
As an Organizational Supporter, your donation will allow us to provide scholarships that enhance access to the legal profession for Latinx students, provide educational and professional programming for attorneys and law students, and allow us to pu on community events that bring the Latinx and allies together.
Scholarships:
Our scholarships have been awarded to law students taking unpaid internships with organizations that help underserved communities, Bay Area Latinx law graduates taking the bar exam, and Latinx undergrads taking the LSATs.
Over the last three years, our scholars have come from Golden Gate University, Santa Clara University, University of California Berkeley, University of California, Davis, University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and the University of San Francisco.
Our scholars were almost all first-generation college graduates, and some were undocumented.
Over the last three years, all of our scholars have passed the California bar exam on the first try.
Organizational Supporters are directly supporting the next generation of Latinx lawyers.
Programs:
Our 2021 programs included: a mentorship program for Latina/Latino/Latinx students; resume review for Latinx law students; panels on how to get appointed to the federal bench, state bench, and other political appointments, a Latina therapist to help Latina lawyer heal from micro-aggressions at work; and other programs that help Latinx professionals advance in their career.
Organizational Supporters allow us to create programs that enhance the careers of Latinx attorneys, judges, and law students.
Events:
Our events included: Latinx luncheons, speed networking events for students of color; judge meet-and-greets with law students, and our annual dinner, Noche de Gala. Noche de Gala is a night that brings the entire San Francisco Bay Area Latinx legal community together. The event brings together youth, law students, judges, and attorneys over food and drinks. Guest include people from some of the largest companies, law firms, and non-profits in the Bay Area.
Noche is on Friday, November 01, 2024, at the Palace Hotel (2 New Montgomery St, San Francisco, CA 94105), and will be back in person!
